SPINE AND JOINT EDUCATIONAL CLASSES
At Houston Orthopedic & Spine Hospital (HOSH) we encourage every patient to play an active role in their healthcare. To facilitate the ability to make informed decisions, we offer Spine and Joint Education classes to each patient considering surgery. In these classes patients learn more about the procedures, the processes associated with them, and have their questions answered. They will also have the opportunity to get a jump-start on the pre-admission process and make a personal connection with our nurses and staff. We are dedicated to providing our patients with all of the tools and resources needed to make the best decisions for their healthcare.
WHAT TO EXPECT
During your educational classes, we will discuss in depth what to expect before, during and after your surgery. Our goal is to provide information to prepare you for surgery and ease any anxiety you or your family members may experience during the healing process. Topics discussed include where to come the day of surgery, pain control, anesthesia, respiratory therapy, equipment used during and after the hospital stay and discharge planning.
TOUR THE HOSPITAL
As part of our educational classes, you will be given a tour of the hospital. Familiarity with our world class facilities will help ensure a smooth surgical experience. On the tour you can expect to learn more about our state-of-the-art technology and 5-star accommodations. Highlights of the tour include access to hospital amenities such as our children’s play room and bistro-style Fountain’s Café.
JUMP-START THE PREADMISSION TESTING
Our warm and kind professionals will go over your insurance coverage with you and answer any questions you might have regarding billing. You will also be given the opportunity to fill out the paperwork necessary before you have your procedure at HOSH.
DISCHARGE PLANNING
We will make your discharging plans with you and your family. Our objective is to make the discharge a smooth and convenient process for you and your caregivers. We have an experienced team that includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Physical Therapists, Personal Assistant Liaisons, Pharmacists, Social Workers, Dieticians and Discharge Planners. They are dedicated to providing you and your family with the information necessary for you to return to your daily routines as soon as possible. Post-surgical rehabilitation, equipment, home healthcare and nursing assistance may be needed for your return home. We will coordinate this for you before you leave the hospital.
CONCIERGE PROGRAM
You will also be introduced to professionals from our Concierge Department. The department was created to assist with and simplify the ever-changing and complex medical process allowing you and your family to focus on your health and recovery. To make your stay at our facility as stress-free as possible, we offer you unlimited support for all aspects of your care, from physician referrals and appointments through physical therapy scheduling and discharge planning.

Monday: 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Thursday: 10 a.m.
First Saturday of every month: 10 a.m.
Spine Classes
Tuesday: 10 a.m.
Wednesday: 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
First Saturday of every month: 12 p.m.
If you sign up for a Spine or Joint Educational class please plan for the class to occupy the greater part of your day. We will provide you with a meal ticket for you to redeem at our Fountain’s Cafe. |
