ERIC F. BERKMAN, M.D.
Eric Berkman earned a B.A. in biology/psychology from the University of Texas before graduating from the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport. Dr. Berkman was awarded a trauma/spinal instrumentation A.O. fellowship in Basel, Switzerland. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is licensed to practice in the state of Texas.
RIGHT TREATMENT AT THE RIGHT TIME
Using the latest technology, Dr. Berkman strives to provide the right treatment at the right time for each patient. His goal is to empower the patient with the services and education that will assist them in returning to their highest level of function. Dr. Berkman is an advocate of alternate bearing surfaces with associated minimal wear for the active patient with a hip or knee replacement. In knee replacement, Dr. Berkman uses a high-flexion implant system and computer surgical navigation for more precise placement of the knee prosthesis. He is also an advocate of Partial Knee Resurfacing using robotic arm unicompartmental knee surgery. With these new techniques and better materials, Dr. Berkman's goal is to restore the normal activity level for patients of all ages.
ASSOCIATIONS
Dr. Berkman's professional memberships include the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society and the Louisiana Medical Society. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
